With the a6700 having escaped my wrath for the better part of a month so far, it seemed like a good time to augment it with a full-frame partner. Happy with the form factor but not wanting to add a FF version of the same sensor, an a7c II ended up being the choice.
Ergonomics are almost the same as with the a6700 except for one big plus: there’s a second thumbwheel slotted into the rear, making a total of three, with which one can very conveniently control the exposure triangle with thumb and index finger.
A few shots during a limted outing showed it to have the same type of IQ I was wowed by when I saw some images a friend took a while back. It’ll hopefully get a longer outing with some sunshine first thing in the morning.
One full-frame and one crop sensor, both weather resistant, was what I wished for but never got with L-mount. Although the two FF L-mount bodies served me well and reliably under some very tough conditions, both are a bit long of tooth now. One has been ditched and the other is currently easing into semi-retirement.
And for once—no, twice—I didn’t backtrack!
