As many times as I’ve swapped gear in and out over the years, I don’t recall ever having ditched an entire system in one go. Nor do I ever recall feeling such relief outright glee after having done so.
Sony joins Nikon on the “never again” list. Both brands have plenty of superb gear; but in the big picture, neither brand suits my purposes. Having an SL2 in my hands again was like being with a dear old friend. And to reward myself for any prior suffering, I added a 75mm APO-Summicron-SL to the lineup. My previous copy got swapped for the 90 SL and I was never quite as happy with that FL.
There’s a strong temptation to add a second SL2 since these things aren’t getting any newer nor are they being manufactured any longer. SL2-S? No. Point it at some grass no matter what lens is on it, and it looks like something from that four-letter word I just offloaded.
Happy again . . . for the moment . . .
